Training
In order to be able to work at Forsmark, contractors must complete a number of mandatory courses.
On this page you can see the most common mandatory courses you may need to complete before working for us. Some can be implemented directly via the web, some are trainer-led and performed at Forsmark.
Who books and pays for the courses?
Your contact person at Forsmark will book you on the courses. Forsmark covers the cost of some of the courses that are required for working here. Find out more in the following documents.
Access training
To gain access to the different areas at Forsmark you also need training depending on where you are planning to work.

Protection and safety
Target group: | All personnel who are to work at the nuclear power plant. |
Scope: | 1.5-2 hour web-based training. Same training for basic training and re-training. Implementation through Educational platform for nuclear plants |
Follow-up: | Knowledge checks. |
Course must be repeated every: | 3 years. |

Radiation protection in practice
Target group: | Personnel who will have access to the radiological controlled area. |
Scope: | Course with lessons and practical exercises. |
Follow-up: | Written and practical tests. |
Course must be repeated every: | 3 years. Part 1: Web-based training with implementation through Educational platform for nuclear plants Part 2: Training with teacher – registration mandatory. Both Part 1 and 2 required and in right order for further access. |

Trainings for the task
The tables below describe some of the training sessions Forsmark requires you to take, depending on what kind of work you do. Your management or outsourcer decides which courses are relevant to you.
Radiation protection basics, section 7
Target group: | Operations and maintenance personnel of Forsmark and contractors' supervisors working in the controlled area. |
Scope: | 2 days' trainer-led, theory-based sessions. |
Follow-up: | Attendance check and written test. |
Course must be repeated every: | 3 years. |

Clean systems
Target group: | Personnel who will have access to the controlled area (carry a dosimeter), or other work areas where their work can affect the cleanliness of our systems. |
Scope: | Interactive training: Educational platform for nuclear plants |
Follow-up: | Knowledge checks. |
Course must be repeated every: | 3 years. |

Lifting course
Target group: | Personnel who will be slingers, signalmen, lifting supervisors or crane drivers. |
Scope: | Training may takes place in stages. Training: 1 day teacher-led, theory/practice. Basic training at external supplier: Dematek - Västerås. |
Follow-up: | Knowledge check of theory och practical tests. |
Course must be repeated every: | 5 years. |

Hot work
Target group: | Maintenance staff and others working with welding, cutting, grinding or other equipment which produces heat over 300°C. |
Scope: | 6 x 40-minute instructor-led sessions and practical exercises. |
Follow-up: | Attendance check and certification. |
Course must be repeated every: | 5 years. |
